A Successful Week at NACS PEI 2025 — and Why Listening Matters

Greetings from Freedom Electronics! As we head into the final stretch of 2025, I want to extend my sincere thanks to all our customers and partners for your continued trust and engagement. Our team recently returned from the NACS PEI 2025 Trade Show, and I’m excited to share highlights from an incredible week — and a few reflections on the importance of staying connected.

A Record-Setting Year for NACS PEI

The 2025 NACS Show and PEI Convention, held October 14–17 at McCormick Place in Chicago, reaffirmed its position as the industry’s premier event for the convenience and fuel retailing market. This year’s show drew over 20,000 attendees and more than 1,400 exhibitors, the largest gathering to date.

What stood out most was how the exhibitor mix has evolved. Five years ago, this space was dominated by equipment manufacturers. Today, many of the largest OEM distributors and service companies are showcasing as well — a clear sign that our industry continues to diversify and adapt.

Freedom Electronics at the Center of the Action

For Freedom Electronics, this year’s show was a tremendous success. We had a prime booth location just off the main aisle, and our new exhibit design attracted attention throughout the week. The response from attendees — including customers, partners, and even competitors — was overwhelmingly positive. It was great reconnecting with so many familiar faces and meeting new ones. The conversations were authentic, insightful, and energizing — proof that while innovation drives progress, relationships remain at the heart of our business.

Product Highlights — Innovation that Works

Our sales team stayed busy demonstrating how Freedom products help customers improve reliability, uptime, and profitability. A few standouts included:

  • FE-14 Printer: A direct replacement for Wayne Ovation and Anthem printers (DW-14, and Zebra). Customers appreciated its ease of installation, diagnostics features, simplicity and jam resistance. Contact your sales representative for information on January pre-orders.
  • Valve Repair Kit (FE-16353): Designed for quick field repairs, this kit eliminates the need to return bulky, fuel-smelling cores — reducing downtime and shipping costs.
  • Cable Protection Cap for Franklin ELLD Sensors (P/N FE-16922): A surprise hit! This protective cap helps prevent cable damage during ingress and egress of containment areas. With newer ELLD models losing replaceable cables, this small accessory can prevent costly replacements and extend sensor life.

Each of these products reflects our mission: practical innovation that makes your work easier, faster, and more profitable.

Listening and Learning — The Power of Conversation

After returning from NACS, I hosted our quarterly Freedom Town-Hall Meetings, where I meet with small groups of employees in candid, open discussions. While those conversations are internal, the philosophy behind them is the same one that guides our customer relationships: listening directly and acting on what we hear.

Every improvement we make — whether it’s a new product, a better process, or faster support — begins with your feedback. Your ideas and insights are the foundation of our continued success.

Looking Ahead

As we move toward 2026, Freedom Electronics remains focused on delivering high-quality replacement parts, dependable service, and responsive support you can count on. The enthusiasm we experienced at NACS PEI 2025 reinforces our belief that innovation and partnership go hand in hand. We’re proud to be part of an industry that’s constantly moving forward — and even prouder to be moving forward with you.

To everyone who visited our booth — thank you for stopping by, sharing your time, and your feedback. For those who couldn’t attend, we’d love to connect soon and share what’s new.

Until next time,

Patrick Jeitler

Websters dictionary defines change as, “to undergo transformation, transition, or substitution.”   I like the word transformation. While change may seem hard and difficult, change also means that you are growing, evolving, and transforming into what is next. This can be true for an individual, a company, or an industry. Change is healthy and serves as an important aspect of long-term growth and success.

Change was a key thought I left with coming home for the NACS Show 2025. This show is always an exciting time of being with customers and friends as well as learning more about all that is going on in the industry.  This year the idea of change was my takeaway. Here are a couple of key changes that are working to reshape our industry.

1. C‑Stores Are Becoming Food & Beverage Destinations
The biggest transformation is in food service. More stores are moving beyond prepackaged snacks and becoming serious players in the fast food (hot meal on the run) arena.

2. Tech, Data & AI Are Moving to Center Stage
C‑stores are leveraging digital technologies to smooth operations and personalize the customer experience.

3. Private Branding
To protect margins and differentiate their assortments, many c‑stores are expanding their brand. Snacks, beverages, and other items are being privately branded. Stores are seeking ongoing customer loyalty.

4. EV Charging & New Infrastructure
The noise around EV seems to have calmed down some, while at the same time, electric vehicle adoption continues to rise, as c‑stores are adding EV charging stations, and finding ways to use these to provide inside the store experiences while the customer waits.

5. Consolidation, Closures & “Right‑Sizing”
We are seeing growth as C-store chains are expanding aggressively and moving into new markets. While at the same time the market is also seeing closures and portfolio optimization.

It is an ever-changing landscape in our industry.  Change is exciting. As the theme at NACS this past year, Level Up!

This month, we are excited to spotlight Melissa Reed, a valued member of our Operations Team for over 27 years. Melissa has played a key role in driving our organizational integrity, communication and raising company standards for what good looks like.

Melissa demonstrates our core values in her daily work with Freedom and is a great example for our #1 value the customer is always served.  She routinely goes above and beyond to make sure our customers have what they need when they need it and she is always willing to go the extra mile to make It happen.

Aside from her time at Freedom Melissa is a mother of 3 and she enjoys spending time with her husband and wonderful family.  Melissa believes it’s important to spend time with family. Melissa is also competitive and always does her best especially when it comes to tennis & pickle ball matches with her 3 children.

The standard that Melissa has set with her team in Florida and with taking care of customers is admirable and we are pleased to have her with us.

“Our actions define our culture more than our intentions.”  Melissa Reed
