News From Our CEO

As we move into the summer season, I want to thank our customers, partners, and employees for the continued momentum we are seeing across the business. Demand for our products and services remains strong, and I’m proud of how our operations, production, and service teams continue to work diligently to fulfill orders while maintaining our lead times and quality standards.

One theme you will notice throughout this month’s newsletter is continuous improvement. Whether it is developing better engineered products, improving operational efficiency, or identifying small process improvements that create long-term impact, our team continues looking for ways to better serve our customers and strengthen our organization.

This month’s newsletter highlights several examples of that mindset in action. In our Product Spotlight, we feature our Freedom Engineered Gilbarco Displays, products designed to improve durability, visibility, availability, and ease of installation while delivering a cost-effective alternative to OEM solutions. Our Tech Tip focuses on dispenser receipt printers and how proper maintenance can help reduce downtime and improve customer satisfaction. We also recognize our Florida technician Luis Ayala-Poril in this month’s Employee Spotlight for his initiative and commitment to continuous improvement, qualities that represent the culture we continue building at Freedom Electronics.

Last month, I shared that we made the difficult decision to delay the launch of one of our upcoming products because we were not satisfied with certain performance aspects. I’m happy to report that we have now received updated samples, and the delay was absolutely the right call. The revised product resolves a key issue identified in the OEM version while also delivering a more robust and economical solution for our customers. We are excited about the progress and look forward to formally unveiling this new product in next month’s Product Spotlight!

Fuel prices and freight costs continue to rise, impacting nearly every product and service in our industry. At Freedom Electronics, we are actively working to help minimize those impacts for our customers. We continue operating dedicated van delivery routes from our Michigan, Georgia, and Florida locations to help reduce shipping expenses while improving turnaround times through core pickups and deliveries. In addition, we are strategically optimizing inventory placement so more products are stocked within shorter ground shipping zones, helping reduce transit time and freight costs. If you would like to request to be on one of our van routes, please contact your sales rep or our customer service line at  (866) 335-1542.

We also continue investing in tools that make it easier for customers to quickly identify the correct parts they need. At freedomelectronics.com, our site is designed to simplify product searches and reduce confusion around OEM part numbers and assemblies. OEM manufacturers often change part numbers or offer similar assemblies where multiple options may work, making it difficult to determine compatibility. Our website helps solve that problem: simply type the part number into the search field and we will show you compatible parts. You can also find additional compatible parts under the “Replacement For” section within each product’s specifications, helping customers quickly identify suitable replacement options with confidence.

As always, thank you for your continued trust, partnership, and support. We remain committed to delivering engineered solutions that help keep your operations running reliably and efficiently while continuing to invest in the products, people, and processes that create long-term value for our customers.

Luis came to us two years ago after graduating from the University of South Florida. He came in as an entry level technician but quickly showed a lot of potential.  Within his short tenure with Freedom Electronics, he has elevated himself to a level 2 technician. Everyday Luis comes in striving to get better and always looking for ways to improve our process. One of his simple but most impactful improvements was the use of a usb air duster. He bought one in for his personal use at his bench and soon every tech wanted one. This helped us eliminate the cost of purchasing canned air and switching to these at a one-time cost. These little improvements are just some of the things Luis brings to the table and what we want from our team. On his free time Luis enjoys spending time and helping his family and friends. His hidden talent is fencing and is willing to give lessons if anyone wants some!

By Greg Abrams, Director of Business Development

No matter what your role is in an organization you can grow as a leader.   In a world that celebrates bold visionaries and high-profile leaders, one of the most important forms of leadership often goes unnoticed: self-leadership.

It doesn’t come with a title, a corner office, or a team to manage. Instead, it’s the discipline of leading yourself—your thoughts, actions, and habits—especially when no one is watching.

At its core, self-leadership is about ownership. It’s the ability to take responsibility for your direction, your energy, and your results. Rather than waiting for motivation or external pressure, self-leaders create their own momentum. They don’t outsource accountability, they embody it.

Organizations don’t transform because of strategy alone—they change because individuals show up differently. A team full of people who lead themselves effectively will always outperform one that relies solely on top-down direction. Why? Because self-leaders are proactive, resilient, and internally driven.

  1. Clarity
Self-leadership starts with knowing what matters. Without clarity, effort becomes scattered and reactive. Clear priorities act like a compass, helping you decide what deserves your attention—and what doesn’t.
  2. Discipline
Motivation is unreliable. Discipline is what carries you through when enthusiasm fades. Self-leaders build systems and habits that support consistent action, even on difficult days.
  3. Self-Awareness
You can’t lead what you don’t understand. Self-awareness means recognizing your patterns—both helpful and limiting. It’s the willingness to reflect honestly: What’s working? What isn’t? What needs to change?

Leadership doesn’t begin when someone gives you authority. It begins the moment you decide to take responsibility for yourself. And the truth is, the most effective leaders in any organization are rarely the ones who simply manage others well; they’re the ones who have learned to lead themselves first.
